This series started out really strong. Hart is a master of characterization, and it really shows here. She writes characters that are deliciously flawed, and your heart breaks for them.n a style reminiscent I Stephen King or zombie movies, Hart constructs a world that is freakily scary and yet realistic.
That said, this series was a dud for me. Why?
I'm now six parts into the story, and nothing new has happened. I'm reading the same idea over and over, with a slightly new twist and with new characters. And just when I'm invested in a character or group, the story switches to a new person.
I've skimmed the last two installments, hoping something new would develop. Nothing has. So, while the writing is VERY strong, I'm not wasting any more money. I'm done.
